File extension pfb information

File extension PFB is considered a font file on the basis of its function in managing fonts especially for its role in the adobe application, PostScript Type 1 Font. In addition to this application, extension PFB is also found in another Symantec application, DESQview. However, it’s from the former application that it derives its name which it itself an abbreviation of the name Printer Font Binary File. Given its association with and use by only these two applications and its limited usage on the computer it is not regarded as a common file.
File extension PFB has the primary responsibility of ensuring that the correct fonts are set according to user requirements. This aspect of PFB files is only permissible when the files are part of PostScript Type 1 Font. In this regard the files are closely related to PFA files although they do not necessarily require PFA files to function optimally. However, PFB files work in close association with PFM files and in fact require them if they are to function. As a result they need to be stored in a similar location due to their complementary nature.
